Break out the fireworks, today is the New Year for many of the Asian communities around the world! In Southern California, there are many festivities and parades going on from Chinatown in Los Angeles all the way down to Little Saigon in Orange County where they do dragon dances and just simply spend a lot of time with their loved ones. Our office decided to keep with the Lunar New Year tradition and went out to buy a game called “Lucky Chess,” that is typically played every year around this time. It is nothing like the game of American Chess, but more similar to Roulette where you bet on an animal, roll the 3 dice, and if that animal comes up, you win! Sounds like a very basic game, but it was a lot of fun playing with the CottonTreats team especially with everyone yelling and screaming for their animal to come out. We all hope that 2011, The Year of the Rabbit, will bring in much success, happiness and wealth for everyone!
